James Hardie the most ecological house siding
James Hardie has just added an award to his long list of recognition. For the fifth year in a row, fiber cement leader James Hardie has been named the Greenest Siding Brand by Green Builder® (greenbuildermedia.com).
The Green Builder site, a leading authority on green residential building in the United States, conducts an annual survey of professionals in the construction industry. This year again the professionals voted James Hardie as the most ecological product in the category of coatings.
Sustainability, the durability of its finish and an efficient manufacturing process are at the heart of the concerns of James Hardie's team:
- Made from natural products such as cement, sand, cell fibers and water, James Hardie fiber cement panels are naturally and exceptionally resistant to intense heat, cold, UV rays and humidity. Maintenance and replacement of boards will therefore be reduced.
- As James Hardie panels are coloured in the factory with ColorPlus technology, painting work on construction sites will be reduced. In addition, workers will not be exposed to volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- James Hardie’s team is very strict when it comes to the quality and provenance of the natural materials used in the manufacture of these panels. They come from sites close to its factories, which limits the environmental impact of transport.
- James Hardie's team is very happy that the annual Green Builder survey reflects his green efforts. In the coming years, James Hardie will develop several initiatives to make his manufacturing process and his product ever more ecological.
